Blockchain: The Digital Revolution in Every Industry
CTI IT Infrastructure Summit was conducted for the fifth time on March 7th, 2018 at Ritz Carlton Hotel Pacific Place, South Jakarta after receiving a very positive feedback from the previous year’s event. The most anticipated IT infrastructure conference gathered nearly 1,000 attendees, consisting of researchers, policymakers, vendors, practitioners, academics and top-level executives of various business units across Indonesia, such as marketing and finance, as IT has become the enabler of every business line. The topic for 2018 was “Blockchain: The Digital Revolution in Every Industry”, discussing how blockchain offers a great potential to disrupt all industries and how business could gain the full benefit of it.
The Blockchain Potential
Most people know blockchain as the magic behind Bitcoin, and sometimes they can’t even differentiate between the two. But the truth is blockchain has bigger potential than the cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Blockchain technology will at least disrupt 19 industries; from the financial industry where blockchain will remove the intermediary function in the transaction process, to the health industry where blockchain can provide a quicker and more accurate diagnosis. Companies need to pay attention to several important aspects such as operational, skills, business process, company culture, technology, and the digital maturity. Not to mention some of the challenges that might come along the way, like security, data management, and lack of skills.
